Bathala
Batalha was a stop on the way between Porto and Sintra that featured a large cathedral/monastery.
Douro Valley
The Douro Valley is where all of the Port is created, grown from the grapes of this region. It’s a short and very scenic drive from Porto and well worth the trip.
Lisbon
The capital of this country is a bustling, hilly and vibrant metropolitan area with plenty of history and some great sights. We had a great apartment with a view of the river.
Obidos
This was another stop on our trip from Porto to Sintra. Obidos is a picturesque village that was a good stop for lunch and a walk around to see the sights.
Porto
This was the highlight of the trip. Porto is large enough to have a lot to do and see yet small enough to be very manageable. We had a great time on this city that sits at the mouth of the Douro River and is the gateway for shipping Port around the world.
Portugal Coast
The coast of Portugal features a long string of picturesque beaches, lighthouses, and scenic natural features that make it a great day trip. Drive, stop, take in the sights and then continue on because there is so much to see.
Sintra
Sintra was a definite highlight. We stopped here for a few nights and could have spent more time. Incredible castles to explore and also a set of palaces that we were not even able to get to in our trip. Worth going back.
